Directions: From Lancaster, north on US 63 about 4 miles.  Pond is on the east side, immediately south of the Iowa/Missouri state line.  The main entrance road goes along the south side toward the boat ramp parking area; access to the north side (other than walking around the pond) is off the paved road at the state line.

When to Visit/Species to Expect:  Anytime in fall/winter/early spring when the pond is not frozen may produce a variety of waterfowl.  Presence of trees attracts a good variety of passerines to this tiny oasis amid farmland.

Features of interest to birders:  Although there are no designated trails, a walk around the lake on mown grass is pleasant and can be productive.  Trees at lakeside and in the stand to the east harbor a good variety of species.  The northwest and west portions may have Marsh Wrens, Green Herons, or bitterns.
