  • eBird - An outstanding site that allows you to keep a checklist of your birds! It is a part of the Cornell University ornithology section.

  • Cornell Lab of Ornithology - This web site, part of the Lab's site, may become the ultimate site for information about birds. Phase I includes a bird guide and detailed bird identification pages including silhouettes, flight patterns, habitat, posture, and more. It also features an extensive Gear Guide - how to use scopes and binoculars, how to clean them, alignment, and even a review of available optics products.

  • Archives for state/regional bird listservs. Check the archives of the listserv for states that you are planning to visit, get contact information for birds or habitats of interest.
  • BirdCast - A joint venture of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, National Audubon, and other partners.
  • The BirdChat Photo Quiz - Stephane Moniotte's regularly updated test of your birding ID skills.
  • BirdingPal.com - Find a fellow birder no matter where you are traveling! Also lists links and birding hotspots for most of the world.
  • FeederCam - Wild Birds Unlimited's FeederCam is a video camera on a feeder in Indiana; updated every three minutes. If you really can't get out, but want to see some real birds NOW, check this site out!
  • Maps from everywhere - includes the amazing ability to find any address in the USA and print (from your own computer) a map to guide you there.
  • Peregrine Cam - Live video updates from an active peregrine falcon nest in downtown Toronto
