DeLorme 69, F-7 GPS: 36.69304,-89.231764 Directions: From I-55 Exit #58 (Hwy. 80, Matthews/East Prairie), take Hwy. 80 east through East Prairie, turn right (south) onto Hwy. 77, go about 8 miles to CR 502, turn right (west) onto gravel CR 502. Site is about one mile, on the left. When to Visit/Species to Expect: Anytime (but lack of shade limits summer visits). Wooded borrow pit area is attractive to passerine migrants. Shrubby area on north side of entrance road is good for skulkers. Grassland species should be expected. Features of interest to birders: “Towosaghy” is from the Osage for “Old Town.” Mown paths lead to the six remaining mounds and the borrow pit, providing easy access to birding areas.
