This road runs along the east side of the prairie. Turn west at the first corner to reach the small parking area on the south side. When to Visit/Species to Expect: Anytime, but migration and nesting season are best. Look for nesting grassland sparrows. Species present may vary depending on recent habitat maintenance practices. Features of interest to birders: Native tallgrass prairie (birds and wildflowers) Toilets: None Camping: None Hazards/Limitations: Take it slow going over the elevated old railroad bed on Fairgrounds Rd. at the northwest corner of the prairie; the drop-off on the south side is not car spring friendly.
