Rd. 609. Stay on it (bear right) at Y-junction; then bear right at the farmhouse. When to Visit/Species to Expect: Anytime. A good mix of species can be found, including eagles, kingfishers, flycatchers, and oscines in the proper seasons. Features of interest to birders: The road traverses upland grasslands, then riparian/grassland interface. There is a good diversity of habitat, including large bottomland trees, scrub and old fields. Four parking lots/pull-outs provide points to begin short exploration forays. Toilets: None Camping: Walk-in and back pack along the road and in parking areas. Seasonal closures may apply. Hazards/Limitations: None noted other than high water possible on the Maries River.
