Beginning in 2005 with the first CACHE agreement, the MBS receives funds for these efforts in supporting partnership bird habitat projects and other bird-related projects and activities. Missouri Birding Society (MBS) has partnered with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and later the Missouri Division of Natural Resources (DNR) to provide high quality bird monitoring data on MDC and DNR lands and in the surrounding areas throughout Missouri. Through this citizen science effort Missouri land managers get a better understanding of bird populations and habitat use throughout the seasons. Each year MBS provides a list of targeted areas where there is a need for an enhanced understanding of bird populations and habitat usage.
